Some Friday Fun...
Happy Friday, Menossancers!
We made it to the end of another week in February! A little gray (a lot cold!) and some tough stuff going on out there in the world. Thinking of this group always makes me happy, so I thought I’d pop in to say “Hello” and to share a few things that are lighting me up during these darker days.
“Wuthering Heights” – It’s always tricky when Hollywood takes on a classic, but if you can put your high-brow literary minds (and English degrees!) aside for a moment and embrace the idea if a Fifty Shades of Grey-esque reinterpretation, you are in for a treat. Dark, stormy and windswept moors. The statuesque Jacob Elordi brooding as Heathcliff (the guy even manages to make a gold tooth look hot!). And Margot Robbie’s Catherine Earnshaw, a petulant, provocateur who’s not afraid of a good bodice and some Madonna-in-the-80s style bold cross jewelry. Total mind and eye candy for anyone who needs a sexy escape from reality.
The Cost of Quiet – Catherine and Heathcliff might have saved themselves a lot of heartache if they’d had Colette Jane Fehr, LMFT, LMHC new book on hand. A licensed psychotherapist specializing in couples therapy, Colette dives into the very real cost of staying silent and avoiding conflict in our relationships.
Whether you’ve been partnered for years, are dating, or hope to be someday, this book offers practical tools for having the hard conversations that lead to deeper intimacy and more meaningful connection with the people we love. Colette is also very active here on Substack and well worth a follow!
Quince’s Cotton Fisherman Throw – Whether you’re curled up with a good book or binge-watching on the couch, nothing beats a truly cozy blanket. I’ve tried more than I can count, but this Quince Cotton Fisherman Throw has officially won my heart.
Available in eight beautiful, muted colors, it’s perfectly weighted — soft yet substantial — like a luxurious hug. In my humble (but well-tested) opinion, it’s worth every penny and then some.
Falastin: A Cookbook, by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley — I love all kinds of cuisine, but if I had to choose just one to eat forever, Middle Eastern would be a strong contender. I never tire of the spices, the brightness, and the way the dishes manage to feel both healthy and deeply comforting at the same time.
Lately, I’ve been cooking my way through Falastin, and every recipe has been a hit. I keep coming back to the Hummus, Batata bil filfil (spicy roasted new potatoes with lemon and herbs), and Chicken Musakhan — all of which, happily, taste just as good as leftovers!
I’d love to know what’s lighting you up these days! Please feel free to share in the comments. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! Thank you again for subscribing to My Menossance. I couldn’t be more grateful to have you here!

This was the fun, cozy read I needed this Friday 😊💕
That throw is gorgeous but my dogs' sharp little talons would have it ruined on day one 😞
